Presbyopia

At Clínica Oftalmológica Castro we recommend regular eye check ups from the age of 40 onwards. This is the stage in which age-related symptoms of eye diseases may start to appear.

From the age of 40 onwards, we progressively loose the sharp vision of objects that are close to us.

A clear sign that we are approaching middle age is that we no longer see objects that are close as well up as we used to.

The classic solution to this problem, called presbyopia, is the use of reading glasses. Another alternative is surgery.
Pseudophakic lenses are implanted after removal of the crystalline lens, usually in people who have opacification or sclerosis of the natural or crystalline lens recommended for patients with presbyopia.

The choice of one approach or the other depends on the individual circumstances of each patient.

After an appropriate examination, at Clínica Oftalmológica Castro we will advise you on what we think is the best solution for you, based on contrasted medical criteria and giving priority to your visual health.
